Before you buy Forza Horizon 6, it helps to know exactly what you’re paying for. There are usually three editions, the game is on Game Pass, and the platform situation isn’t identical across consoles. None of it is complicated once it’s laid out, so here’s what differs, what’s worth paying for, and what to wait on.

The editions and what differs

FH6 follows the same three-tier pattern the series has used for years:

• Standard Edition — the full base game. Every car you earn in normal play, the open world, the Festival Playlist, multiplayer. Nothing about the core experience is locked behind a higher edition.
• Deluxe Edition — Standard plus the Car Pass, which drips new cars to you over the months after launch.
• Premium Edition — the everything bundle: the base game, the Car Pass, the planned expansions, and VIP-style perks. Premium buyers also got early access of around four days, letting them start ahead of the standard launch date.

The key thing to understand is that the higher editions don’t give you a better version of the game — they bundle future content (cars and expansions) at a discount versus buying each piece separately. If you’d buy the Car Pass and expansions anyway, an upgraded edition saves money. If you’re not sure, Standard loses you nothing you can’t add later.

Pricing varies by region and store, and editions go on sale, so check the current price where you buy rather than trusting a number you saw months ago.

Game Pass

FH6 is on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. An active subscription lets you play the base game on Xbox Series X|S or PC at no extra cost beyond the membership — this is genuinely the cheapest way to try the game.

Two things to keep straight: Game Pass gives you the Standard experience, so the Car Pass and expansions remain separate add-ons; and access lasts as long as your subscription does. If you expect to play for years, owning an edition outright may work out cheaper than an open-ended subscription — but for trying the game or playing for a season or two, Game Pass is hard to beat.

Platforms and the PS5 question

FH6 released on 19 May 2026 for Xbox Series X|S and PC. For the first time in the series, a PlayStation 5 version is also coming — but later in 2026, not at launch. If you’re a PS5 player, the practical takeaway is that you’re waiting, and an exact date may still be unconfirmed; don’t treat early “leaked” dates as gospel until it’s official.

Which one to pick

A simple way to decide:

• Just trying it, or unsure → Game Pass, or Standard. Upgrade later if you fall for it.
• Know you’ll play all year and want the new cars → Deluxe for the Car Pass.
• Long-term player who wants expansions and a head start → Premium, for the bundle and early access.
• PS5 owner → wait for the later-2026 release; an edition you buy then carries the same choices.
