How the weekly treasure hunt works in Forza Horizon 6 — where to find the riddle, how to decode the clue, narrow the search zone and smash the chest, plus how treasure cars and reward cars are earned and where they land.

The treasure hunt is FH6’s weekly riddle-and-reward loop. You read a clue, work out the car, area and activity it points to, complete that action to reveal a search circle, then track down a chest and smash it open. It overlaps with barn finds on the “search a zone” step, but the mechanics and rewards are different — so treat it as its own habit.

What a treasure hunt actually is

Each week, Playground hides a single treasure as part of the Festival Playlist and Forzathon rotation. The flow is consistent across the series and FH6 follows it:

1. A riddle tile appears in the Forzathon list with a cryptic clue.
2. The clue points to a car, an area and an activity you must perform.
3. Doing the activity in the right place solves the riddle and reveals a search circle on the map.
4. You find the chest inside that circle and smash it to claim the reward.

Unlike a barn find, the chest does not just sit there waiting — you generally have to satisfy the clue’s condition first before the search zone will even show up.

Where to find this week’s riddle

Open the Festival Playlist and look in the Forzathon / weekly challenges area for a treasure-hunt tile. Hover over it to read the clue text — it is easy to miss because the riddle is in the tooltip, not a separate menu. Because the Playlist resets weekly, the treasure rotates too, so check back each week rather than expecting the same hunt to linger.

Decoding the clue

Forza riddles are written as short, deliberately vague poems. Break each one into three questions:

• Which car? The clue usually names a make, body style or era (“a featherweight kei racer”, “an 80s wedge”). Drive that car or the closest match you own — see the full car list if you need to identify it.
• Which area? Landmarks, regions or scenery in the line tell you roughly where to head. FH6 is set in Japan, so expect references to its cities, coastline and mountain roads.
• Which activity? Many hunts ask you to earn a skill, win an event type, or hit a speed in that zone. That action is what flips the riddle to “solved.”

If the clue feels impossible, do the obvious literal reading first — these riddles reward straightforward thinking more than lateral leaps.

Narrowing the search zone

Once the riddle is solved, a translucent circle appears on your map marking roughly a one-mile radius. To search it efficiently:

• Drive the perimeter first, then cut across — the same grid approach that works for barn finds.
• Keep the mini-map zoomed in. If the shaded area slides off the edge of the mini-map, you have left the circle; turn back.
• Check off-road: chests tend to hide behind buildings, down dirt tracks, near water or on elevation, away from the main route.

The dig: opening the chest

When you reach the wooden chest, drive into it to smash it open. There is no separate menu — the impact opens it and the reward is granted on the spot: Forzathon Points, credits, and on featured weeks a reward car. Drive carefully on the approach so you do not overshoot and have to loop back.

Treasure cars and reward cars — and where they go

“Treasure car” gets used loosely. Sometimes it means the reward car a hunt pays out; sometimes players use it for any collectible vehicle on the map. Either way, anything you earn lands straight in your garage, fully owned — check it in the garage. Reward cars from these hunts are often exclusive and time-limited, the same way the Playlist’s headline cars are, so claim them the week they appear rather than assuming they will return.

Common mistakes

• Not reading the tooltip. The riddle is on the tile, not in a dedicated screen.
• Searching before solving. The circle only appears after you complete the clue’s activity.
• Driving out of the circle while hunting — watch the mini-map shading.
• Skipping the week. Like Playlist cars, a missed treasure car may not come back soon.
